Bridge 2: Let's Compete

Bridge lessons for advancing beginners
Monday evenings, 6:30-8:30 pm
8 classes
June 3 - July 22, 2024

Just because your opponents opened the bidding doesn’t mean that you and your partner have to pass. Graduates of Bridge 1 and players with some but not a lot of experience will discover how to become tough opponents in this 8-class bridge course.

Bridge 2: Let’s Compete introduces the techniques of a modern competitive bridge game. You will learn how to interfere and take advantage of the opponents’ bidding, how to bid with great hands and try for slams, what to lead and more. By the end of the course, players will have the knowledge to join in the club’s 49er/Newcomer, 299er and 499er games and play competitively.

This course emphasizes fun and learning from playing. Come with a friend — or come alone and make new ones! Accredited instructor, Susan Fronapfel, hosts the lessons. An optional textbook, Easybridge! by Edith McMullin, is available from the instructor for $15.

Tuition: $125; $110 for Newtown Bridge Club members. Classes are held in the Alexandria Room on the 2nd (top) floor at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown CT.

Bridge 1, another beginning bridge class or some experience playing bridge is a prerequisite for Bridge 2.
