Introduction to Defense
Tuesday mornings, 10:00-11:30
7 classes
August 12 - October 7, 2025 / no class on 9/2 & 9/23
Better defense will improve your bridge game. After all, you defend 50% of the hands you play - twice as often as you are declarer. This 7-class drop-in course explains techniques for making the most of the mediocre hands you and your partner have when you are defenders.
Come with a friend — or come alone and make new ones! See how quickly you can polish your bridge game.
The bridge program at Newtown Bridge Club emphasizes fun and learning from playing. These lessons use experience from playing hands to emphasize teaching points. ACBL Accredited Teacher, Susan Fronapfel, presents the lessons. Refreshments are provided.
Tuition is $13 per lesson; $10 for Newtown Bridge Club members. The textbook, Introduction to Defense: Second Edition by Eddie Kantar (author) and Barbara Seagram (editor), is available at class from the instructor for $15.
Experience playing bridge is a prerequisite for this class. While you can drop-in for any class that fits your schedule, you'll get the most from this course by attending as many classes as you can and bringing your partner.
